About FSSAI Registration

Every Food Business Operator (FBO) involved in the manufacturing, processing, storage, distribution, and sale of food products must obtain an FSSAI Registration or License. This includes petty retailers, hawkers, temporary stall holders, and large manufacturers.

  • Basic Registration: For small businesses/startups with an annual turnover of less than ₹12 Lakhs.
  • State License: For medium-sized businesses with a turnover between ₹12 Lakhs and ₹20 Crores.
  • Central License: For large businesses with turnover over ₹20 Crores, or for importers/exporters and those supplying to government agencies (Railways, Airports).

FBOs can choose the validity period of the license between 1 to 5 years at the time of application. The license must be renewed 30 days before its expiry to avoid penalties.

Yes. If your food business has a separate godown or warehouse located at a different address from your main office or manufacturing unit, a separate license is required for that premise.
